The Rediscovery of a XIX Century Artist

Period

22.02.2015 / 26.04.2015

Description

Twenty years since the first exhibition on Schio artist Alberto Boschetti, this one aims to examine in further depth, together with the new catalogue additions, this artist who, in a few short years, developed a very personal style.

The exhibition presents 70 paintings and 70 drawings, as well as other documentation and photographs, revealing new aspects of an artist unknown to most, because in his brief life and career he worked without pursuing public recognition but rather focusing on quality.

Privacy and a seclusion were always part of this artist’s character: he applied himself methodically to his goals.

After the recognition from the Accademia di Verona and his participation to the II Triennale di Milano in 1894, Alberto Boschetti worked almost exclusively for himself and his family, excluding the commissions to decorate some churches received in his last years.

The works here exhibited, from the portraits to the genre paintings and landscapes, reveal an artistic adventure of substance, with a discreet spirit which takes the artist from the XIX Century into the XX.
